We're 8 Months in Ashtown!
It's hard to believe that it's been 8 months since the big move, but it is (as of this morning actually!)
We were so long in our old home that I thought it would be really tough to move, but actually, it's been the opposite. Bringing our Jiu Jitsu club here to the new area of Rathborne and Ashtown has actually been a pleasure. We've gone from kids coming into an industrial estate with trucks clattering past them to seeing kids scooting and walking to training themselves. It's exactly what I'd hoped for when we moved.
Of course, there were some teething problems, but we're well past them at this stage.
Ashtown Has a Jiu Jitsu Club!
The first thing we realised when we moved was how many of our members can now just walk out of their houses and stroll into training. It's brilliant to see people walking up to the new academy.
It's particularly great for kids. As a kid, I walked or cycled everywhere, and it's a great independence builder for young people. Even parents who have to drive can now drop their kid off down the road safely and collect a few hundred yards away.
It's a nice area to be in, so thank you to everyone who has made us so welcome here so far!

Beginners And Women's Jiu Jitsu Courses
As a club, we've also been able to start some of the programmes we've been itching to run for a long time. We launched our women's classes last week, and they've already proven to be really popular. We've also had regular beginner's classes (every 4 weeks in fact) where brand new Beginners to Jiu Jitsu can come in and try.

All of this wasn't really possible before. We were rally limited in what we could run, and when we could run it! While we've always been a really welcoming space, let's face it, coming up the old, dark, industrial road to the old venue probably wasn't the most welcoming of walks!
But now we're here, and we're fully bedded in, we want to be a part of the community here in Ashtown. Please feel free to come and see us anytime. Drop by or get in touch to find out about classes and how we can help you or your child.
See you on the mat!
Barry
